MAAS Metal Polish
Our need to clean/polish trophies won at horticulture shows, wedding gifts
and the like are often put off because, they are a “pain”.

MAAS Metal Polish is my new choice for all metal polishing. I recently found it at Wall Greens for $5.99. If you are unable to attain it locally, their web site is: www.maasinc.com and their telephone number is 630.654.4743.
Two characteristics of a polish are important to me. (1) Easy to use and (2) the quality of the luster/sheen they produce. MAAS has a 3rd quality I have never experienced. It applies an anti-tarnish corrosion inhibitor which provides some protection. Hurray, I will not have to polish as often.
Additionally, one needs but a small amount of polish relative to other types I have used. And, if you are like me, you will not put off your polishing chores because MAAS takes less time than any polish I have ever used. Polishes currently in our cleaning cabinet follow and are ranked in order to MAAS. 3. NEVER DULL, 4. Simichrome Polish, 5. Cape Cod Metal Polishing Cloth, 6. Brasso (new creamy formula), 7. Wright’s Anti Tarnish Silver Polish, 8. Brasso (original formula), 9 Tarn-X. Yes, that is correct; I am awarding MAAS the first and second places. It is that good! Finally, there will be quality sheen on the runner up trophy, when Burt Reynolds was chosen for the April, 1972 issue of Cosmopolitan magazine.
A cleaning tip for cleaning your crystal vases and bowls: One washes these objects and even uses rice to swish about to remove the crude or build up at the bottom. Unfortunately there is still a bit of build up crud at the bottom. After your usual washing, fill the crystal with warm water from the kitchen spigot. Drop in a denture cleaning tablet or two. My formula is two tablets to 16 ounces of water. After the water turns semi clear from its original blue, empty the vase. Using a wadded up piece of paper towel and the handle of a wooden spoon or a bottle brush and rub any remaining crud. Rinse your vase and presto, it looks as good as when you received it on your wedding day. Also, generic denture cleaning tablets from the discount store work as well as the more expensive brand name tablets.
